Released on April 21st on Netflix, “A Tourist’s Guide to Love,” a film directed by Steven K. Tsuchida and shot in Vietnam, quickly gained worldwide attention.
After a week, “A Tourist’s Guide to Love” ranks third among the top ten most popular English-language films worldwide.
The storyline may be familiar, but the setting is likely to be new for many American audiences. Just as Amanda travels around Vietnam, “A Tourist’s Guide to Love” provides viewers with a glimpse of some of the country’s most beautiful locations. Each place visited by Amanda in the film was shot on location.
A Tourist’s Guide to Love” was filmed in April 2022 in various Vietnamese locations, including Hanoi, Ha Giang (North), Da Nang, Hoi An (Central), and Ho Chi Minh City.
The film is loosely based on the story of how screenwriter Eirene Tran Donohue, whose family is Vietnamese, met her current partner while taking an extended vacation in the country after a breakup.
