Upon your arrival at Luang Prabang Airport, you’ll receive a warm welcome and be transferred to your hotel. Nestled in the heart of northern Laos, Luang Prabang holds UNESCO World Heritage status due to its exceptional cultural, historical, and architectural significance. It epitomizes a harmonious coexistence between nature and human structures. Today, there are no planned activities, providing you with the opportunity to explore this ancient city at your own pace.

We start with a one-hour drive to Ban Xeng Mouk village, where our trek begins. First, we visit the Khmu village of Ban Longlao Nung, followed by the neighboring Hmong village of Ban Longlao Song, observing their unique lifestyles and peaceful coexistence. Our trail then leads through rice paddies and fields into the forest, where we explore a wartime cave shelter. Afterward, we trek to a spring-feeding Kuang Si Waterfalls, where we enjoy lunch amid stunning scenery. In the afternoon, relax by the waterfall’s turquoise pools or visit the Bear Conservation Center nearby. Before returning to Luang Prabang, we explore the beautiful pools of Kuang Si at the Khmu village of Ban Thapene.

Our soft adventure day near Luang Prabang begins with a short 20-minute drive into the Lao countryside. After a quick boat transfer across the river, we embark on an easy jungle trek surrounded by mountains in the river valley. We reach a Khmu hill tribe village, where your local guide helps you explore their traditional mountain life. Following a refreshing break, we descend to Tad Sae Waterfall for swimming and relaxation. Lunch is served either at the waterfall or in a local village. Afterward, we return by boat and vehicle, concluding our jungle and village adventure.

As the sun rises, join Laos’ sacred morning alms-giving tradition, followed by a visit to the local morning market. After breakfast, embark on a scenic boat journey up the Mekong River, with stops to explore villages and the mystical Pak Ou Caves. After the cave visit, transfer by car to Nong Khiaw, a charming town on the Nam Ou River. Enjoy lunch at your leisure, and then visit the historic Phathok Cave, which served as a wartime shelter. A gentle walk reveals picturesque views of rice paddies and the valley. Watch the sunset over the river.

Overnight in Nong Khiaw.

Our day begins at 8 am as we board a local long boat for an upstream journey through stunning landscapes, making our first stop at a riverside village to explore and potentially visit the local school. We then head to Tad Mork, near the Khmu village of Ban Sop Kong, for swimming and a picnic lunch. Following this, we embark on a 2.5 to 3-hour jungle trek to the H’Mong ethnic village of Ban Phayong, taking a leisurely stroll to meet the locals. Before dinner with a host family, we participate in the Baci Ceremony, a traditional gesture of gratitude.

Rise early to assist your host with breakfast or enjoy a mountain sunrise. Then, embark on a 3-hour downhill trek through picturesque fields to the Nam Ou River‘s bank, where we board a cruise upstream to Muang Ngoi, a secluded fishing village. In the afternoon, trek to the nearby Khmu village of Ban Na and explore the mystical Tham Kaang caves. Return to Muang Ngoi at sunset and, if time permits, take a dip in the Nam Ou River.

Begin your adventure with a tranquil boat ride on the Nam Ou River, exploring a Lao riverside village. After learning about the local way of life, embark on the ‘100 Waterfalls Adventure Trail.‘ Trek through streams and rice paddies to reach the 100 Waterfalls, a discovery from 2008. Spend hours surrounded by water and jungle, with refreshing pool dips and a local-style lunch. A village trail at the ‘100 Waterfalls’ summit offers panoramic views of the Nam Ou Valley. Experience daily life in the Nam Ou riverside village before returning to Nong Khiaw by boat.

In this immersive homestay experience, you’ll wake early to prepare sticky rice for the Monk’s offering, join the morning alms giving, and share breakfast with the family. You’ll then learn fishing techniques on the Ou River with Kham and her uncle, followed by a scenic hike to rice fields and organic gardens. Lunch with the family is a highlight, and you’ll have some free time to explore the village and shop for souvenirs. Later, return to Luang Prabang by local boat, concluding the experience around 5 pm upon arrival at your hotel.
