Our journey begins with an introduction to the architecture of traditional Balinese houses. We then make our way to central Ubud to visit the Puri Lukisan Museum, where you’ll have the opportunity to admire the works of renowned Balinese artists and sculptors. Not far from the museum stands the Puri Saren Ubud, the palace of the current King of Ubud, celebrated for its unique Balinese art design, making it a captivating destination to explore. Just across the road from the palace is the Ubud Art Market, a vibrant hub where you can discover various Balinese artworks.
Continuing our journey, we depart central Ubud to venture into the countryside and rice fields of Petulu village. This charming village is famous for the stunning spectacle of white herons, which arrive in the afternoon around 4 PM and depart around 9 AM the following morning, creating an awe-inspiring natural display.
Today, embark on a visit to the John Hardy Ubud Workshop and Boutique, a tranquil oasis located just outside of Ubud, Bali’s creative hub. Here, you’ll have the unique opportunity to observe skilled artisans and designers crafting exquisite hand-made jewelry. Your journey continues with a visit to the Ubud Royal Palace, one of the most iconic landmarks in Ubud. This palace is renowned for its well-preserved Balinese architecture and enchanting garden setting. It is especially famous among aficionados of Balinese arts as it serves as a primary venue for captivating evening dance performances, adding to its cultural significance in the heart of Ubud.
Today, you will transfer to Seminyak, a journey that will take approximately 1.5 hours, depending on local traffic conditions. Your half-day sightseeing tour begins at Puputan Square, an attractive open square located in the heart of the city. Next, you’ll head to the Bali Museum, situated near the former royal palace of Denpasar. The museum comprises four main buildings that showcase Indonesia’s rich history and cultural heritage. A visit to Denpasar wouldn’t be complete without experiencing one of its colorful pasar (Indonesian for ‘market’). Pasar Badung is Bali’s largest food market, offering a variety of fruits, spices, and edible goods sourced from all over the island. Your final stop is the Bali Art Center, housed in a traditional Balinese building with a permanent exhibition of modern paintings and woodcarvings. Your half-day tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Seminyak.
This morning, you have some free time to explore Seminyak at your own pace, whether it’s taking a leisurely stroll, shopping, or enjoying the beach with a swim and some sunbathing. In the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to the village of Batubulan to witness three captivating Balinese dances. When in Bali, these three famous dances are a must-see: Sanghyang or Trance Dance, Kecak or Monkey Dance, Fire Dance. Witnessing these dances is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich and mystical culture of Bali.
Experience the rich world of traditional Balinese music and learn to play the gamelan, a unique Balinese instrument, with a private teacher in the serene and picturesque Gulingan Village. After your music lesson, you can take a leisurely stroll through the temple grounds surrounding the Balinese compound. This allows you to immerse yourself in the cultural ambiance of Bali and gain a deeper appreciation for traditional Balinese life.
