GENERAL INFORMATION OF CAMBODIA

The Kingdom of Cambodia is a country that continually surprises its visitors. As the birthplace of the Angkor temples (the magnificent legacy of the Khmer Empire that once dominated much of Southeast Asia a thousand years ago), this country has plenty of beautiful things to discover.

During the day, explore the history of the capital city, Phnom Penh, and in the evening, indulge in traditional Cambodian feasts and experience the country’s nightlife. Explore the islands dotting the Cambodian coastline as well as charming provincial towns that make up the breathtaking countryside. Let yourself be awed by the UNESCO World Heritage site, Angkor Wat, cruise along the Mekong River, and relax on pristine beaches.

Discover the tragic history of the Killing Fields, the Tuol Sleng Museum, and other reminders of the Khmer Rouge regime. You’ll be struck by the Cambodians’ optimistic attitude, who have found the courage to keep smiling despite three dark decades of civil war. Best moment to go to  Cambodia

The best time of the year to visit Cambodia is between November and April, as there is very little rain during this period. You’ll experience clear blue skies, making it an excellent time for a relaxing getaway to the southern coast.

Outside of this period, humidity increases and rains arrive, aiding Cambodian farmers in growing their crops. However, this shouldn’t discourage you from traveling to Cambodia. The countryside becomes lush, rivers are full and colorful, and the temples are serene. It’s the best time to visit some of the more remote temples, which are often less crowded.

At the end of the summer, one of Cambodia’s true wonders comes to life – the Tonlé Sap, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and home to Cambodia’s floating villages.
